There was no room for lyrical opus in this life. No time for quick tongue, nor silver wit. Her life was one of action, and action kept it, nothing else. Her rhythmic footsteps resounded through her frame, blood pulsing through her physique. Each step was a fanfare. Each breath sent her further into the unknown.
How long it had been now, she did not know- her travels seemed to take aeons. When she was seen she was taken little notice of- the usual clumsy efforts of a stallion to herd her, nothing more. For she was Demon Siren, and she was known from talk if little else, the wayward wanderer with no goal but to continue to gallop until she met her end. She was named for her call, the spectral whinny of which everything malignant, vicious and cruel in this world was piled into, the devil’s call, the Demon Siren. Humans had seen her, yes, but often for no moe then a second, as they stared quietly, incomprehensibly, pondering, into the bush- and past their vision would leap the mare, black as night and yet with the navy sheen that made her seem almost blue in the light. Their eyes would always widen as they claimed they had seen a blue-black thoroughbred mare, wild, run past them. True, it was, for her peltage was sheened with the ghostly blue, and her parents were both horses from the track. Corralled in a small surround as an infant with her sire and dam, she was released by a wild stallion, a stallion who soon she escaped from. Never had anything else happened of interest. Her life lived in her legs, her head numbed from the continuous travel. Nevertheless, she remained alert always- each sound did not pass turned over from her ears. Each scent was dissected, each sight pondered over for days straight. Nothing would take her by surprise. Not the Demon Siren.

Here Tiger was... again hiding among the trees. Actually, he never hid, he just happened to be in the places that sheltered him. He looked to see the mare. He stood behind, not really caring much in the world. She was another mare... he shook his head. She'll be swept off her hooves by one of the stallions. He himself stood by and watched. He was waiting for a mare that would, make him go wow. He rubbed his flank against the tree and came out into the opening, his tiger marks shone almost a dark gold in the sun... He was waiting for his friend, Rhapsody. Where was that stallion who always greeted everyone?

The black stallion walked out from behind him, almost silently, but not quite. The zephyr wind played with his mane, allowing it dance in all direction, wisply like ivy against a brick wall. He had heard new company and saw that she was a black mare. He looked at Tiger and knew what he was thinking. He walked forward toward the mare, his ears up in alert, always waiting... listening... never caught off guard. He made his way toward the mare and stopped in front of her. He nodded his head down and smiled, "and I am Black Rhapsody, and you are?" he stood.

Her head swung around sharply, her eyes glinting with malevolent fury at herself. How could she be so unaware? How was it she could not see or hear these sneaky brutes? She had not whinnied, not shown her darker side, the call of the demon. She laid her eas back and snorted. "Aaah, but a name- What is it to you? Would you not prefer just to refer to me as 'mare,' or 'wench' or even fancy salutes such as 'xanthippe?' Surely so... for if I revealed my true name, aye, there would be no stop for you." She set her shoulders back and dug her hooves into the terra, eyes narrowed suspiciously. She would not give an inch, certainly not to some brutes who had suddenly appeared with transparent polite greetings.

He flickered his ears playfully. "and why would I refer to you as only a 'mare' or a 'wench?' I would do no such thing... You remind me much of Tiger... such a temper. a fiery temper." he looked back to where Tiger was. He was too busily grazing to notice the mare at all. He was alone and would probably always be. Maybe Tiger knew something that Rhapsody didnt. He stopped thinking and looked at her once again. "you dont have to tell me your name if you dont want to... but if you do, please do." He whinnied and shook his black mane and then move forward an inch. "what is it that makes you think I am like the other stallions? to abuse and use you?" curiousity shone in his eyes.

She laughed, and unintentionally let out the ghostly Demon Siren whinny, malignant and vicious, cruel and dark. It seemed as if her throat would fall apart at the harshness of the sound, and yet, the beauty.
Her ears flitted forward, interested not. "There is no reason for me to, aye... but what reason is there to not?" She raised her head, the sun reflecting off the trees behind her, turning her pelt navy-blue-black, though the pallid light that spilled through the leaves left patterns, as if she were dappled blue.

His ears pulled back slitghtly and flickered back up again. "a beautiful and unique voice you've got there..." he turned his head to the side and he too walked into the sun right next to her. He smiled and admired her beauty... "you're beautiful, beautiiful." he neighed and stomped his hooves. He called for Tiger "get your lazy flank here." he smiled at the mare. "what is it that you want? your hidden desires... goal in life?"
*isnt it great to be ableto wake up your friend at 2 in the morning for a game?*

Tiger galloped *ANGRILY* (haha, so funny chris) over there.
"You called me for?"
He eyed Rhapsody and then the mare. She had the same hard head as he did, but he wouldn't admitt it. He gruffly coughed out.
"Tiger. You?"
A darker, deeper voice poured out.

Rhapsody grinned. "come meet our new friend here." He smiled and butted head with his old friend. I guess I should respect my elders more? eh? He laughed heartily inside and wondered when nighttime would come... he was ready to race the wind as he always did. He waited for the mare's and Tiger's answers.

Her muscles tensed as he approached, acutely aware of each of his movements. When he came within reach, bam! out snaked her crania. Ivorn incizors reached out, digging into his shoulder. Instantly she bounded away, on the tips of he hooves, eyes rolling and ears flat. "Don't approach me with such petty praises, brute." she spat nervously in distaste. "My goal in life is survival. Nothing more."

He turned and looked at hsi bleeding shoulder. "You've done more damage to me, aight, Tige?" he said. THe light pain was numb and that didnt entrigue him. He laughed at himself, forgetting how personal space was a big deal. "I'm sorry for invading. I guess I deserved that. Survival is a key... but what do you want survival for when you can have friends? a herd? a stallion? foals...?" his eyes twinkled.

She remained silent, her pulse throbbing, fury pounding in he head. "Because.." she said after a while, at a slight loss for words. It seemed, fo a moment, as if she quavered, but then came the fim resolution, the hard bitter wall. "Because survival is solid, dependable and beats you physically, but not mentally. Friendship, love, can turn and hut you without notice. It is no such a joyous life. I will not go with you." she growled.

"Survival is challenging... love and friends can turn against you... i've experienced it all. The death of a mare... a foal... my mother... father... ever woke up, the first day of your life, to see your mom dead? I wouldnt know now would I? I dont know... i never knew my mother... I guess... I've lost my loves one too many time... I guess what i'm saying is that, loosen up a bit. You'll be happy here." he smiled. "you dont have to come with me... it's your choice... but if you ever need a place... even for one night, come join me." he stood there and cocked his head to the side, his red eyes flickering the beauty of the sun.

She said nothing, but narrowed her eyes in suspicion, nerves tingling. Her eyes moved to the other horse, and she eyed him ove closer. Her dark eyes widened in suspicious shock as she saw the dark, scab-like welts, like tiger stripes, that weaved over his pelt like runes. Her own pelt twitched in pity for him.

He had his head toward the ground. His golden tawny eyes paid no attention to anything, but his ears did. They were always listening for danger. He took notice of the mare looking at him. His voice crept out of his throat, it was deep, dark... and sent chills down ones spine.
"Do not Pity Me."
He adjusted his hind leg.
"The World's Weight was place upon my shoulders. These deep Scars are what make me who I am."
His eyes gazed up longingly and he raised his head from the grass.

She unconciously let out a self-righteous whinny of surprise and dismayed pride. He unnerved her, but her ghostly screech of the devil was just as unnerving. "Don't think i have had it tough, brute. All I have done in this life is run.... run, all the time. My life is boring. I would much prefer horrors then this perfect... dull.... timeless life."
It was uncanny, how she would prefer what most would die to rid themselves of. She would not be struck down. She raised her neck to stand at her full height, pallid blue-black pelt changing in the refracting lights. She looked magnificently savage, not giving an inch to the two powerful stallions that surrounded her.

He spoke without looking at her.
"I didnt question you."
He looked at the sky and arched his neck to stretch it out a bit.

"I know you didn't." she replied quietly, cross, and impatient. "I am leaving now." she growled, or rather, hissed- her words sizzled through her incizors to emphasize her meaning. He hooves twisted slightly in the dirt, speading her weight. She sighed in tired frustation. Why were the brutes being so... kind.. to her?

Before she left, his lifted his head and walked toward her, but leaving enough space so she wouldnt lash out at him. He wouldnt have minded another slash to add to his body art.
"Living here makes ones heart... it warms ones soul... it's unexplainable. The flummoxation... vanishes."

"I live in no lands." she replied, with an almost... longing twinge to her voice. "My life is in my legs.... I do not have the capacity... the..... strength..... to change that, stallion." she got out, struggling with the words to explain. She huffed a sigh, though remained still, her eyes taking on a dreamy quality.
